Airbursts seen over the Cyprus sky
Updated: Feb 26, 2025
Our all-sky camera picked up red and white clouds in the eastern sky, potentially the result of the Israeli interecepts of the Iranian missile attack that happened yesterday October 1st, 2024.
The missiles were widely seen across the island and a variety of videos have been released showing the ominous sight. The clouds resulted from the missiles quickly dissipated and were not seen in consecutive frames.
Our all-sky camera is located at our observatory near Prodromos, at an altitude of 1412m. It has a field of view of 180x130 degrees and it transmits live images of the sky 24/7 through our website.
